Amanda Walker, Yoga Instructor

After completing my 200-hour yoga teacher training I had an instant thirst to learn more. I now continue to learn by attending a Yoga University Advanced class about every other month with an amazing group of teaches at Yoga From the Heart in Sarasota. I fell in love with yoga in 2015 and am passionate about showing the world just how amazing yoga is and what it can do for everyone. When I first began my practice, yoga was not easy. Presence was something I lacked and so was flexibility due to previous injuries. Through my practice I have overcome this and am no longer in constant pain. Yoga has taught me to let go of the past, not to worry about the future, and enjoy each moment as is comes. Yoga is so much more than the physical practice, if we just open our minds and take a seat back.

Larisa Kenny, Yoga Instructor

Larisa says, “Yoga allows you to focus on yourself; changing and bettering your perspective of the world and how you see people. I help my students do this by teaching Vinyasa Flow incorporated with the philosophies of Yoga. My classes are filled with vitality and fun, yet therapeutic and calming. I work to reduce student’s stress and worries, instilling a sense of calm in a frenetic world. I try and help my yogis become more aware of their bodies; connecting to their inner beauty through breath and movement. My hope is that I help my yogis take the lessons learned on the mat out into their daily lives.”

Larisa feels everyone could benefit from practicing Yoga. “Yoga doesn’t have to be expensive or take too much time; you don’t have to be flexible; and your physical appearance doesn’t matter. Yoga is your well being, about finding the best you while involved with a community of people striving for the same goal. Yoga helps you live your best life. Imagine yourself in traffic and someone cuts you off suddenly, what do you do, scream, swear, drive faster and tailgate? No, you should just breathe and calmly continue your journey. By practicing yoga, not only do you learn how to breathe and do the poses, you learn how to live your life with equanimity.”

Larisa now lives, teaches and practices yoga in Sarasota, Florida.
